The "Tiao" foot roller is based on the principles of Chinese reflexotherapy. For over a thousand years the Chinese knew that our nerves end in the soles of the foot.

Place both feet on the wooden rolls and initiate symmetrical or asymmetrical movements. Comfortably seated, a total well-being will be sensed after only 10 minutes.

Refer to the diagram hereinafter for reflex zone reference. Through its circular stimulation, cold feet, heavy legs and cramps will become past history.

How Does Reflexology Work?

Zone therapists and reflexologists say that massaging certain points on the foot loosens tensions or blockages that stop life energy from circulating freely in the body. Free-flowing energy helps the body regain its natural balance, harmony, and health. Reflexology stimulates blood circulation to nourish the body and stimulates the lymph system to cleanse it.
One scientific explanation for how reflexology works is that compressing the skin and tissue just below the skin stimulates sensory receptors. This stimulus telegraphs its message along the afferent ("conducting inward") fibers of the peripheral (outer) nervous system to the spinal cord. The theory states that this stimulation may then disperse through the central and automatic nervous system, producing various effects in any area or zone connected via the spinal cord.
Regardless of the exact method, reflex massage does dilate or constrict the blood vessels, relax or stimulate voluntary muscle contraction, and possibly sedate or stimulate pain in areas remote from the part that is being touched. The principle is similar to acupressure and acupuncture. Relaxing and stimulating the body can help sluggish glands and organs to regain normal functioning. Little "crystals" felt in the foot can be lactic acid, a sediment that settles in your body from poor eating habits or lack of proper exercise. These can be gently crushed and reabsorbed by the body. The lymph systems can then eliminate the waste products.
